It's not often that a major studio has the guts to pull a picture and say, "Not good enough. Go back and fix it. We'll release it next year." Let alone TWO major franchises.
These things tend to be freight trains, once they're off and running. They need it to fill this hole in their release slate, bring in this much cash at that period of the year to keep the bottom line in the black.
